How to Prevent Your Concealer from Creasing | #TipTuesday

January 24, 2017

Hey Lovelies!

If you're a make-up wearer and lover, you know what a pain it is to find halfway through the day that your once flawless under-eye concealer is completely creased and looking cray! We've all been there, especially in the warmer months when you're sweating more.

So to remedy this pandemic (yes, we're being dramatic), we've compiled a list of tips and tricks to prevent creasing and help your concealer look its best!

#1: Find a concealer that works best for your skin.
It's so important to find a concealer that fits your skin-type needs, as well as your desired coverage preference. Our personal favourite is the LA Girl Pro Concealer, as it has amazing coverage, has a creamy formula and sets really well. Make sure you moisturise your skin before applying this concealer as it can be slightly drying if you already have dry skin. If you prefer a more light coverage, the Revlon Colorstay Concealer is great as it isn't as heavy but still gives good coverage for an every-day look.

#2: Always prime your skin before applying any make-up.
Priming the skin before applying foundation and concealer is an important step in ensuring that your the application of your foundation and concealer is smoother, more even and that they both last much longer.

#3: Apply concealer below the area where creasing occurs most.
Now that your skin is ready, apply your concealer just below the area where it would normally crease, so if you have fine lines right underneath your lower lash-line for example, apply the concealer below those fine lines instead of right on top of them. This will help reduce the risk of having your concealer settle in those lines.

#4: Wait a few seconds before blending.
Now that you've applied your concealer, wait a few seconds before blending it in. This will allow the concealer some time to become more tacky, offering even better coverage (Yay! 😀).

#5: Blend blend blend.
We personally love using a damp beauty sponge to blend our concealer in as it gets into the curves of the eye really well and it also picks up any excess product on the eye.

#6: Set your work, STAT!
Quickly set your work with your favourite setting powder to seal the deal! This step is super critical in ensuring that your concealer doesn't budge and end up creasing. One of our favourite setting powders is the Essence translucent setting powder. It prevents creasing really well and is pretty affordable too. Another good trick for preventing creasing is to press the powder into the skin instead of just swiping it on. This technique we find helps to really make sure everything is set firmly in place.

And voila; you've got crease-less, bag-less under-eyes! Keep your powder close so you can always touch-up throughout the day if you need to. We hope these tips work for you like they do for us! If you've got any more tips that we haven't mentioned, go ahead and share them with us in the comments below.

Stay crease-less,
xx
